This salve is Good. Yes, Good. With a capital G. I put it on everything- mosquito bites, scratches, dry feet, you name it. It takes a little bit of time to make, but it’s oh so worth it. When I put it on my dry feet, I slather it on at night just before bed, then put on socks. By morning, my feet are so soft and moisturized and not the least bit greasy! Making 8 oz., you can halve the recipe if the full recipe is too much.
1/2 cup Coconut Oil
1/2 cup Olive Oil
1/4 cup organic beeswax pastilles
1/3 cup dried Calendula flowers
15 drops Melaleuca (Tea Tree) essential oil
15 drops Lavender essential oil
cheesecloth or sieve
Put the coconut oil and olive oil in a small saucepan and place on the stove to melt on low heat. Once melted, add the Calendula flowers and simmer on low for 2 hours, stirring a few times during the process. After the simmering time has elapsed, strain the mixture through the cheesecloth or sieve into a bowl.
Add the Calendula oil back into the saucepan and add the beeswax pastiles to melt on the stove on low. Stir every couple of minutes until all of the beeswax is melted.
Remove from heat and let cool for about 15 minutes.
Add the essential oils and stir thoroughly.
Pour into an 8oz. glass jar and store for up to 1 year.
